Lockerbie Adventure Holiday 2011
It was Friday morning and S1B and S1W boarded the coach to go to Lockerbie Manor Adventure in Scotland. Mr Witter, who kindly arranged the holiday, Mr Braund and Miss Oxley accompanied us. After a two hour journey, with a twenty minute break, we arrived…we got soooooo muddy and wet but it was enjoyable.- Eleanor Mawdsley
I stood there behind the fence watching the people zoom past…I flew right to the end of the wire, undid the red carabiner, pressed a red lever and slowly lowered myself down. It was amazing.
- Ben Miles
The manor looked grand and interesting…We did abseiling; it was scary and very difficult as it was getting dark.
- Olivia
Our rooms were very modern. The bunk beds were comfortable and we even had en-suites…There were code locks on all the doors so at first we all kept getting locked out.
- Melissa Kate Mohammed
Abseiling was great fun and very high off the ground. I had the job of unhooking everyone from their harnesses as they reached the deck.
- Daniel Pretten
My favourite bit of the weekend was when we sat in the corridor and listened to Miss Oxley’s stories about teaching the kindergarten twenty years ago and about when she was at Tower College.
- Sarah Denno
When Mia (blindfolded) was in the maze, she walked into a wooden post because she couldn’t hear my directions properly. The funniest was when Melissa did the splits on the Low Ropes.
- Sarah Buckley
Low Ropes are challenging! The best thing about it is ‘teamwork’. You have a spotter, someone to help and encourage you. If you fall, they are there to catch you. When I finished, I felt like I had achieved something.
- Isabella Odogu
The best part was the army tunnel; we had to lie on the floor in the mud and pull ourselves through. Kristian, our instructor, thought it was really funny.- Rachel Sellars
My favourite activity was fencing. I really enjoyed learning about lunges, parries and ripostes.
- Joe Ford
Blind Trail was brilliant and is all about teamwork. Danny, my partner, directed me into every wall, tree and post he could!
- Luka Caney
We took part in: Team Building, Abseiling, Zip Wire, Blind Trail, Low Ropes, Obstacle Course, Fencing, Archery and Rock Climbing…The hotel room was massive; it had three bunks and a jaccuzzi.
- Jordan Tsang
My favourite activity was the Blind Trail as you didn’t have to wait, and you got muddy. I didn’t like the Low Ropes, but thanks to my spotter, Izzy, I got through.
- Erin Hogg
Melissa kept getting her left and rights wrong so I kept going the wrong way and I walked into two trees by mistake.
- Heidi Webb
Zooming down the long zip-wire trying to get the £10 note from the tyre was an amazing experience.
- Aaron Mottershead
At Lockerbie, we had so much fun; it was unbelievable. I really enjoyed the ‘M’ frame as it tested my skills.
- Martin Lewis
One of my favourite parts of the trip was on the last night when Olivia was feeling a little homesick. Miss Oxley comforted her by telling stories. After a while most of the girls were listening. It was really funny because Alanya started telling random stories too.
